We are inviting patients and staff to get involved in a variety of ways at the Centre, both as participants in research and as partners helping us to take our work forward.
As participants
NHS staff and patients have been invited to take part in our research on an ongoing basis. This might involve giving us permission to access clinical notes or other records as part of larger anonymous group surveys, or agreeing to be interviewed by our research staff. Involvement is entirely voluntary and will be carried out only with full consent. We will work to a strict code of confidentiality.
As partners
Patients and public taking part
Patient involvement includes roles such as research advisors for Centre projects and Centre committee representatives.
NHS staff involvement
There are ongoing opportunities for managers, clinical staff and clerical staff to be seconded to work part-time alongside research staff. These joint NHS/academic research teams take advantage of first-hand knowledge of NHS staff combined with specialised academic knowledge to help build research capacity. So far ten people have taken up secondments at the Centre.
