Biography:

 

Carin is the holder of an ESRC PhD Case Studentship (since January 08) and her PhD is titled; ‘Organisational Governance: Accountability for Health Care Associated Infections’. The aim of the study is to identify formal and informal accountability arrangements for the control of healthcare associated infections within NHS acute care, and analyse how these arrangements operate in practice.
The study will contribute to the conceptual understanding of the role of accountability arrangements in supporting patient safety within healthcare organisations. It also has the potential to identify practical opportunities to enhance the effectiveness of those arrangements. Carin’s Supervisors are Professor Naomi Fulop and Professor Charlotte Humphrey.
Carin previously worked as a Research Fellow in the Centre for Research in Nursing and Midwifery Education at the University of Surrey. Her research interests lies in the context of healthcare organisation and culture, including training, professional preparation and patient safety.
